Character:
False Florimell is a Faerie Land Love-Bot gone bad. While searching for Marinell, Florimell takes shelter from a storm with a witch and her slovenly son. When the beautiful Florimell departs to continue her search, the Witch's Son is cast into despair. In order to cure him of his terrible love-sickness, the Witch creates a simulacra, an animated creature of snow and wax, and False Florimell is born. False is animated by, and motivated by, a demonic spirit that the Witch secures through a pact with the Devil. The "counterfet" is quickly taken from the Witch's Son by a jealous knight, and trades hands several times as Faerie Land's finest battle for her attention. Everywhere she goes, the people of Faerie Land are fraught with discord.
False is the title character of The Counterfet, and the story is framed by her creation and destruction.

Creative Alterations:
False's creation is a major sequence in The Counterfet, with the Witch going to epic lengths to gather all the materials required for constructing the simulacra. Though she is a supernatural creature, her construction from snow, ice and wax presents the risk of melting.
False is animated and driven by a demonic spirit who gleefully spreads discord amongst False's companions. However, our False will also develop a conscience of her own, and make a heroic sacrifice, instead of vanishing into nothing as Spenser originally proposed. View Michael's explanation in a blog post here.
In her lucid moments, False regrets leaving the Witch's son because he is the only character who shows her adoration and gentleness.
Costume:
False's outfit is made from Florimell's discarded clothes and other trinkets taken from the Witch's house. It is very simple with a chocolate tank top and skirt, a fishnet sleeve for one arm, a lacey choker and some black New Rock boots. The only noticeable flair in this costume is a Mardi gras mask with a snowflake pattern and dark feathers. She rarely covers her face with the mask, but instead leaves it resting on her forehead.
After Satyrane's tournament, False will also have Florimell's golden chain girdle, though it can never fit one so unchaste as False Florimell.
Her skin is made from snow and wax, so False is often referred to as "the snowy lady."
Photo Sets:
A character model for Florimell, and therefore False Flormell, has been recruited for the fall photo sessions. We plan to gather a series of reference shots for use in painting, and promo shots for our winter '09 presentation at UNBC.
